Only a few travel reports are to be found in Gadda’s letters – see L’ingegner fantasia. Lettere a Ugo Betti. 1919-1930 and Lettere alla sorella. 1920-1924 (Gadda 1984a & 1987b).

Travel narratives make up part of Gadda’s second volume, Il castello di Udine (1934) – see Tirreno in crociera, Dal Golfo all’Etna, Tripolitania in torpedone, Sabbia di Tripoli, Approdo alle Zàttere (Gadda 1931c-g, RR I 179-218).

Gadda’s South-American & central European industrial narratives became part of the later Meraviglie d’Italia (1939) – see Da Buenos Aires a Resistencia, Un cantiere nelle solitudini , Il pozzo numero quattordici (Gadda 1934d-f, SGF I 105-24).

For Gadda’s Italian travels as a form of spatial pilgrimage see, in that same volume, Un romanzo giallo nella geologia, Genti e terre d’Abruzzo, Le tre rose di Collemaggio (Gadda 1934k & 1935b-c, SGF I 145-66).
